Crawford posted earlier this summer to mark Gerber’s 27th birthday.
US supermodel Cindy Crawford said she was “so proud” of her son Presley Gerber in her final post weeks before he died aged 27.
Gerber, her eldest child, died in a rehab facility on September 20, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner medical records.
The cause of his death was not disclosed.
Earlier this summer Crawford made a heartfelt post with a carousel of photographs of them together, including one when Gerber was a young boy, to mark his 27th birthday.
The post said: “Happy birthday Presley Gerber.
“I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy!
“Love you.”
Crawford married US businessman Rande Gerber in 1998. They are also the parents of model and actress Kaia Gerber, 25.
Presley Gerber pursued a modelling career after signing with IMG Models when he was 15.
He modelled for brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, and Bottega Veneta.
Gerber spoke frequently about his struggles with depression and substance abuse.
In March he posted a video of himself undergoing drug withdrawal treatment known as a “pre Ibogaine Flood Dose” in Cancun, Mexico.
Ibogaine is a naturally occurring psychedelic drug that has gained attention for its use in treating substance use disorders, particularly opioid and alcohol dependence.
It is an unlicensed and experimental drug in the UK and is not available on the NHS and is illegal in the US, but can be possessed and administered in Mexico.
Crawford commented on the video: “You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud!”
