Fans embraced and threw pints at Boxpark in Wembley, north London.

England fans were joyous as Anthony Gordon put the Three Lions ahead in their World Cup semi-final just 10 minutes into the second half.

After a tense first half littered with fouls and interruptions, supporters erupted when Gordon tucked the ball into the corner leaving old rivals Argentina on the back foot.

A sell-out crowd at Boxpark in Wembley, north London, embraced, leapt into the air and flung their pints as white smoke was pumped into the air as England went 1-0 up in the 55th minute.

The celebration of Djed Spence’s crucial slide tackle which prevented Giuliano Simeone from trying to equalise moments later was almost as loud.

Fans in Atlanta had been feeling positive before the game but also highlighted their concern that Argentina captain Lionel Messi could get in the way of England’s route to the final.
