Scotland face Brazil on June 24 in their final World Cup group stage match.
The Tartan Army have been leaving Boston as they make their way to Miami for the next stage of Scotland’s World Cup journey.
Scotland will take on Brazil in the final group game in south Florida on Wednesday.
Supporters hope their journey in the tournament can extend beyond the group stages despite the disappointment of the team’s 1-0 defeat to Morocco at Boston Stadium, Foxborough, on Friday night.
Fans have been leaving the city over the weekend to make their way south for the next match.
They were welcomed during their time in Boston, where local residents seemed entertained by the antics of Scottish fans, which included placing traffic cones on many statues around the city in a nod to a Glaswegian tradition.
An editorial piece in the Boston Globe thanked the fans for “the laughter, the bagpipes and the memories”.
It said: “You came for the World Cup, but you gave us something more.
“For a week you turned train stations into singalongs, Fenway into a football ground and an ordinary June into something we’ll be talking about for years.”
Tartan Army fans thanked the city and surrounding areas for their hospitality.
The area saw Scottish fans celebrating after the men’s national team secured a win in their first World Cup finals game in 28 years, when they defeated Haiti.
In a post on social media as they left the city, the Tartan Army said: “New England – it has been an absolute pleasure. Across Boston, Providence, Newport and many towns in between you’ve welcomed us with open arms and unbelievable hospitality, and we can’t thank you enough.
“As we begin our journeys to south Florida, we hope it’s not goodbye.”
Scotland fans said they had enjoyed their time in the city.
Hailey Vallantine told WBZ News Boston: “It’s been amazing. The atmosphere has been incredible and everyone has been so lovely. It’s great to be part of the Tartan Army.”
Andy Glass told the broadcaster: “It’s been a dream. The plan now is to go to Miami and beat Brazil.”
He added: “It’s been 28 years since the last World Cup we were in, we don’t know when we’ll qualify again, so for people back home in Scotland it’s just been a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Fans are now making their way to Miami, where the Tartan Army already has events planned such as a Tartan Army March at Miami beach on Tuesday, the day before the match.
